Conversations to Contracts+Capital Event Gains Traction in Partnership with Carolina Small Business Development Fund
Genesis Block has a company goal in 2023 to connect minority owned firms to $2.5 million dollars in contracting opportunities. We have created Converting Conversations to Contracts, a trade show style platform, to provide a solution framework for one of the largest barriers to increasing diversity spending for companies and organizations.
How do large companies and organizations connect with qualified diverse businesses in order to increase their spend with minority owned enterprises?
Genesis Block is excited to partner with Carolina Small Business Development Fund for Conversations to Contracts to commemorate Black History Month in North Carolina with their Black Entrepreneurship Series for the month of February.
Carolina Small Business Development Fund is going on a three-city tour this February to celebrate the history of Black entrepreneurship in North Carolina and to shine a light on the resources, opportunities, and networks that are available to grow and empower Black entrepreneurs. According to Carolina Small Business Fund, the tour will also have a special focus on connecting Black business owners to opportunities in high-growth industries, including information technology, construction and manufacturing, and accommodations and food services.
“Conversations to Contracts is an important platform to help us achieve our goal of connecting minority owned firms to $2.5 million dollars in contracting opportunities. We are excited to partner with Carolina Small Business Development Fund for the Black History Month edition of Converting Conversations to Contracts. Challenges with capital access and lack of viable business networks are two of the biggest obstacles for minority entrepreneurs so this partnership demonstrates the importance of bringing the resources directly to underserved minority firms and the positive impact,” states Genesis Block CEO Girard Newkirk.
Traditionally, Black and Hispanic owned businesses have lacked access to capital that fuels many high-growth industries. Genesis Block partners with financial institutions in order for them to build relationships with diverse owned businesses and connect them with products suited for their stage in business development. There must be an intentional effort put forth by large corporations, government agencies and procurement professionals to diversify their supply chains to include diverse owned businesses and minorities.
The Black History Month edition of Converting Conversations to Contracts promises to be a great event centered on driving increased spending with minority owned firms and Black owned businesses.
