Genesis Block Adds Dynamic Talent to Support Academy Growth
Genesis Block is excited to announce the addition of Aariene Hansley to the fast growing company. Aariene Hansley, will take on the role of Education Coordinator for the Genesis Block Academy. The Genesis Block Academy operates four curriculum based training programs, Block Eatz (a food incubator) and is currently developing a digital learning academy that will launch in the fall of 2022.
Aariene will be responsible for the identification, development and delivery of educational programs in the Genesis Block Academy. Her role includes supporting Genesis Block cohort companies and new companies, implementation of routine program logistics, participation in strategic development and planning for the expansion of the digital learning academy .
The Genesis Block Academy graduated close to 40 companies in 2021. The academy’s educational programming focusing on helping early stage founders build sustainable models that will drive local economic activity. “We have strategic plans to scale the Genesis Block Academy into a national brand focusing on business development and business model training for community entrepreneurs, small businesses and local founders. The expansion of our education business is a key component to our 3 year business strategy and we feel with Aariene joining our organization we now have the talent and skill set to support our ambitious growth plans. We are so excited to have her on the team,”says Genesis Block CEO Girard Newkirk.
We are proud to welcome Aariene Hansley to the Genesis Block team. We sat down with our new Education Coordinator to learn more.
GB: What made you decide to join the team at Genesis Block?
AH: I decided to join the Genesis Block team because I believed in their vision. I was inspired by the impact that both Girard and Tracey wanted to make in the community and wanted to be an asset to the team. I loved their energy and the culture they are building in their working environment.
GB: Can you tell us a little more about yourself and what are your passions?
AH: I am from Pender County, I went to UNCG for my undergraduate degree and continued my education at UNCW for my Master’s. Once I graduated from UNCG, I returned to my hometown and accepted a position to help serve the students and families from my own community. This is where I found my passion (which is another reason Genesis Block piqued my interest). I want to help provide resources and services to the people in my community to help them reach their full potential and goals.
GB: What are you most excited about with Genesis Block in 2022?
AH: I am most excited about where the company is going! I’m learning more each day about Genesis Block and what it has to offer. Of course I did my research on the company and learned about their business endeavours prior to starting my position. However, it wasn’t until I was actively working in my role that I’ve gained a full understanding about the true reach the company will have on the community and I am excited to be part of the team!
