Genesis Block and Wilmington Downtown Inc. Partner for Women’s HERStory Entrepreneur Event

Emily Jefferson is the owner of Avonya’s Blends, an all purpose seasoning distributed at 15 locations across southeastern North Carolina.

Genesis Block is partnering with Common Desk and Wilmington Downtown Inc. to recognize the accomplishments and achievements of women entrepreneurs and business owners in the Wilmington area. Although the internationally recognized official Women’s Entrepreneurship Day is on November 19, the Genesis Block team with partners are celebrating our local business gurus for Women’s History Month.

“With over 78% of our Genesis Block Companies being Women Owned Businesses, we celebrate them. HERStory is a great opportunity for these founders to come together and meet other women founders in our community and hopefully build relationships that will lead to collaborations to help their businesses grow,” states Genesis Block President Tracey Newkirk.

Honey Head Films is a graduate of the Genesis Block Wits Begin program that supports early stage with advanced entrepreneurship training and business model development.

The event will be a Happy Hour style networking event with the aim of celebrating and telling the stories of local women entrepreneurs.

“HerStory event is the opportunity for Genesis Block to show appreciation to the women entrepreneurs who have worked to turn their vision into a reality. We not only want to celebrate these women, but also provide them with the opportunity to connect with other inspiring women to grow their professional network and sisterhood,” says Genesis Block Entrepreneur Training Coordinator Aariene Hansley.
