Genesis Block Foundation Receives Truist Grant for Vocation 2 Entrepreneurship
The Genesis Block Foundation is pleased to announce it has received a $125,000 grant from Truist Foundation to begin development of the Vocation to Entrepreneurship program. The Vocation to
Entrepreneurship(V2E) program advances entrepreneurship access for students and graduates of vocational training programs.
“On behalf of the Genesis Block Foundation, I want to thank the Truist Foundation for their very generous gift. The mission of the Genesis Block Foundation is to advance entrepreneurship in underrepresented communities. We will put these funds to work in our Vocation to Entrepreneurship (V2E) Program in the Wilmington area. This program supports minorities who have a vocation and want to realize the dream
of starting and growing their own entrepreneurial business. Our promise is to be good stewards of these resources with the result that we will have a more diverse and inclusive local economy,” states Genesis Block Foundation Chairman James “Ned” Marable.
This grant will cultivate the workforce in industries related to food and agriculture, retail, construction services and advanced manufacturing. The aim is to develop a pilot this year that best facilitates underserved skilled technicians converting their trade to entrepreneurship.
“On behalf of the Truist Foundation, we are excited to be able to support Genesis Block and the Vocation to Entrepreneurship Program in order to strengthen small businesses, specifically minority owned small businesses in the Greater Wilmington area. At Truist, our shared purpose is to inspire and build better lives and communities and it is our belief that this program conceived by Tracey and Girard at Genesis Block aligns perfectly with our purpose. Our Foundation is proud to support these efforts to make a positive difference for small business entrepreneurs in our local community,” recites Senior Vice President/Market President for Truist Charlie Mattox.
The Genesis Block Foundation has a mission to reduce barriers to access in support of inclusive entrepreneurship, promoting prosperity and empowerment through entrepreneurship in underserved communities.
