Genesis Block Invited to Explore Innovation Corridor in Jacksonville NC

City of Jacksonville, North Carolina leaders attended Conversations to Contracts in May and toured Block Eatz at the McKeithan Center.

Genesis Block was established in February 2020, operating on a mission to advance entrepreneurship in communities block by block. Since then, dozens of companies have scaled providing the momentum for the business network to expand. Strategic partnerships to support founders with customer acquisition and access to capital have been developed further organizing the ecosystem components.

“We believe that the localization of the economy and productive capacity will be a significant trend nationally based on our research and analysis from large organizations. The “real economy” is coming back to Main Street. Communities that build the infrastructure to support the upskilling, equipment, technical skills development and access to capital for entrepreneurs will position themselves well for a thriving small business ecosystem. Our focus is to support the advancement of entrepreneurship in these communities with turnkey ecosystem development solutions,” says Genesis Block CEO Girard Newkirk.

Genesis Block innovation communities team met with members of the City of Jacksonville local government and economic development stakeholders.

Genesis Block was invited to explore creating a hub for innovation and small business cultivation in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Small business growth and downtown revitalization are top priorities for the city government and economic development planners.

The City of Jacksonville is hoping to make some improvements to its downtown area. Officials hope the changes will help current businesses, as well as bring in some new ones. In a little over a week, the city will begin its $2.4 million project along New Bridge Street to help revitalize downtown Jacksonville.
