We hear all the time that Big Data is important to help businesses improve efficiency and identify new opportunities. Without the expertise of technology professionals and data scientists to convert raw data to actionable insights the Big Data is useless.

Greg Terlecky, is an accomplished Physicist and Master Data Scientist. Terlecky is a UNCW Seahawk with a Master of Science — MS focused in Data Science from University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Greg is skilled in Python, SAS, Statistical Data Analysis, Machine Learning, Data Science, Theoretical and Experimental Physics and Public Speaking.

Greg Terlecky was recently promoted to Data Scientist Global Machine Learning, Advanced Analytics at Cisco.

Genesis Block: How does Data Science add value to business and help improve society?

Greg Terlecky: I think that Machine Learning and Big Data insights are the key to a better and data driven approach to problem solving. I think that having analytics is great but operationalization of that model is just as important as the predictions it makes. If the model doesn’t scale then it is not useful.

Genesis Block: Greg, why did you choose to become a member of Genesis Block?

Greg Terlecky: I think that Genesis Block is bringing together the brightest and most savvy entrepreneurs and thinkers in the region and I want to be a part of that.
