Genesis Block Member Profile: Caring for our Caregivers in the Community
There are currently over 40 million unpaid caregivers in the US, 44% of whom are caring for their aging parents. Respite care is designed to help family caregivers alleviate some of the symptoms of caregiver burnout by providing institutionalized or day services to aging family members, giving their caregivers a much-needed break for a few hours a day or a few days a week.
Antoinette Williams, Founder of Private Care Solutions based in Wilmington, North Carolina, understands the physical, mental and emotional toll that come with caregiving. She launched the company with the goal of allowing caregivers an opportunity to rest and rejuvenate so they can resume their duties refreshed and ready to give their best.
Respite programs are diverse and cover all ages and groups of people. They provide planned short-term and time-limited breaks for families and other unpaid care givers of children with a developmental delay, children with behavioral problems, adults with an intellectual disability, and adults with cognitive loss in order to support and maintain the primary care giving relationship.

Antoinette Williams: Private Care Solutions provides community and respite services to elderly and special needs population. Our community service focus is offering one on one support to individuals and their families assisting them on working toward their goals.
Genesis Block: What is your company’s mission and goals?
Antoinette Williams: Our goal is to assist with emotional and physical support, teaching and assisting with independent living skills and activities in the community. Caregivers have many challenges and we support by relieving primary caregivers of some of their responsibilities to rejuvenate themselves. They often neglect themselves when caring for a loved one so we provide mental, emotional and workload support. Private Care Solutions is passionate in our belief that everyone deserves a high quality of life and we want to support families with that process. I have 15 years of experience working with people who have special needs and it helps me understand the challenges facing caregivers so Private Care Solutions can work to support their needs.
