Genesis Block Welcomes New Program Manager for Entrepreneur Academy
Genesis Block is excited to announce Chloe Newsome is joining the company as Program Manager of the Genesis Block Entrepreneur Academy. The Genesis Block Entrepreneur Academy provides programming and educational resources to support entrepreneurs and small business owners. The programs include: Jumpstart Academy, Genesis Block Small Biz Studio and the Genesis Block Back on the Block Minority Accelerator.
Chloe will be responsible for organizing programs and educational activities for Genesis Block. Chloe earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in Recreation, Sport Leadership & Tourism Management. Chloe has worked closely with Laura Brogdon-Primavera and Diane Durance, as an intern for the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at UNCW, developing the startup community in the Cape Fear region.
“Once I was introduced to Tracey and Girard Newkirk I knew that they were special. I love the Wilmington startup community and I think there is a future for me in innovation and entrepreneurship. This role allows me to continue my engagement with minority and women-owned businesses while actively playing a role in their success,” says Chloe.
Genesis Block has a three-year goal to help boost companies owned by minorities, helping them create 400 jobs and add $13 million in investment to the economy in Southeastern North Carolina. One pillar of that challenge is to graduate 120 current businesses from the Back on the Block Minority Accelerator program over the next three years. The Genesis Block Back on the Block Minority Accelerator launches Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 6:30 p.m.
We are excited to welcome Chloe Newsome to our Genesis Block Team.
