Legendary Radio Personality Bigg B Slated to Emcee Shark Tank on the Shore

Brandon “Bigg B” Hickman is a powerful voice in southeastern North Carolina and influences thousands daily through the speakers of cars and homes every weekday on Coast 97.3.

Genesis Block is excited to announce that Wilmington Disc Jockey icon Brandon “Bigg B” Hickman will emcee the Genesis Block Wits Begin Demo Day on June 30, 2022. Locally known as Shark Tank on the Shore, graduates from the Wits Begin Incubator program will articulate their new and improved company, with the aid of strategies to build sustainable business models.

Brandon “Bigg B” Hickman was raised in Wilmington, NC on the Northside of the city. He grew up with a strong support system of his family, church and Community Boys and Girls Club. He says, “If it wasn’t for the Community Boys and Girls Club…I would probably be going in your house right now!”
Brandon “Bigg B” Hickman used his musical talent of playing the trombone and percussion to catapult him into a scholarship at Norfolk State University where he was a member of the Spartan Legion Marching Band.

The hard-working DJ known as “Bigg B” takes his listeners on the “Bigg Ride Home” every weekday starting at 3:00 p.m

“Bigg B is a legend in our community and we are honored that he accepted the invitation. Aariene is our new Entrepreneur Academy Coordinator and one of her first tasks was to try and land the legend so we’re glad that she passed with flying colors. He does so much to elevate Northside and the broader Wilmington community so we are truly privileged to have The GOAT of the 1’s and 2’s holding the mic for Shark Tank on the Shore,” says Genesis Block CEO Girard Newkirk.

Bigg B travels the East Coast speaking, motivating and presenting workshops for youth and adults on HIP HOP 101, Using Hip Hop to teach, and developing a major film festival will limited budget support. Currently Brandon “Bigg B” Hickman is the Program Director and afternoon on-air personality for WMNX-COAST 97.3. Additionally, he is the President of the Black Arts Alliance of Wilmington, NC and the Lead Programmer for the North Carolina Black Film Festival. Brandon is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., The World Wide Core DJs, and Board Member at the Community Boys and Girls Club of Wilmington

Hickman had dreams of owning his own business as a child growing up on Wilmington’s Northside and supports local entrepreneurs as shown above with Creator’s Printhouse owner Robert Flood.
