Michelle Bethea Wins a Prestigious Coastal Entrepreneur Award

Michelle Bethea, owner of Elaborate Outings, was featured in the Star News for her traction in the luxury picnic market in southeastern North Carolina.

Genesis Block is proud to announce that Michelle Bethea, owner of Elaborate Outings LLC, is the recipient of the 2022 Coastal Entrepreneur Award in the Minority Owned business category. Elaborate Outings, is a luxury picnic service that provides customized experiences for intimate special occasions, private events and corporate clients. Michelle Bethea is currently enrolled in the Genesis Block Wits Begin Incubator and is developing a business model that unlocks her creativity, by delivering unique and curated environments for her clients.

The Coastal Entrepreneur Awards recognizes up-and-coming ventures in the Wilmington region as well as established companies that keep innovating. The CEA’s are a joint effort of UNCW’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Greater Wilmington Business Journal to shine a spotlight on entrepreneurs in the Cape Fear region. The winners will be featured in a special issue of the Greater Wilmington Business Journal and honored at an awards ceremony on May 24th at UNCW’s Burney Center.

We had the opportunity to catch up with 2022 Coastal Entrepreneur award winner Michelle Bethea.

GB: What an honor to receive the 2022 Coastal Entrepreneur of the Year Award, how do you feel about this tremendous accomplishment?

MB: I’m very contented. It’s an honor and a blessing to have stepped out on a unrecognized trend with belief that the community would believe that it was an excellent idea to experience. Then to be celebrated for such bravery in tremendous measure is an amazing feeling. I’m blessed.

GB: Is there anything we should be on the lookout for in 2022?

MB: Absolutely, you will recognize why the business is named Elaborate in 2022. A website is being built, so you can look forward to the announcement of the domain and expect to see more collaborations and job opportunities.

Michelle Bethea collaborates with local companies to provide deliciously easy entrees, special appetizers, or vegan and healthy options.

GB: What advice would you give to local entrepreneurs working on growing their business?

MB: Don’t be concerned about the how. Fear is a liar. Allow the negative thoughts in your mind to become the fuel the fire needs to execute your plan. AND JOIN GENESIS BLOCK (PERIOD)
